Elgin Veterans Memorial Park – Memorial Day Ceremony

Gather at Elgin Veterans Memorial Park for a unique and meaningful Memorial Day ceremony honoring veterans, especially those laid to rest at sea. Organized by the Elgin Navy Club and the Elgin Marine Corps League, this observance offers a powerful tribute to those whose final resting place is the water.

Following remarks and a presentation by members of the Elgin Navy Club, the ceremony will conclude with the strewing of flowers into the Fox River, along with a traditional rifle salute and the playing of Taps—creating a moving moment of remembrance and respect.

Located adjacent to the Gail Borden Public Library, this riverside setting provides a reflective space for the community to come together in honor and gratitude. All are welcome to attend.
